Former Indian cricketer and coach Kapil Dev Ramlal Nikhanj, born on January 6, 1959, in Chandigarh, India, is widely considered to be one of the greatest all-rounders in cricket history. Making his debut for the Indian national team in 1978, he quickly established himself as a top all-rounder known for his exceptional pace bowling and aggressive middle-order batting.

As captain of the Indian team, Kapil Dev led the squad to victory in the 1983 Cricket World Cup, cementing his legacy as one of India’s greatest captains. After retiring from international cricket in 1994, Kapil Dev was appointed coach of the Indian cricket team and also acted in a few Bollywood movies. He has received numerous prestigious awards, including the Wisden Leading Cricketer in the World in 1983 and the Padma Bhushan in 1991.
